The company decided to implement AWM for workforce planning in its production plants, with the aim of digitalizing shop-floor staff scheduling activities.

The challenge of workforce planning and digitalization as a key success factor.
Before awm, team leaders had to rely on manually written information to assign workers to the different workstations. In addition, integrating paper-based spreadsheets with information coming from whiteboards was a complex challenge that often required more time than necessary. This made planning extremely complicated and time-consuming, and team leaders were not always able to cross-check all the available information.
“It therefore became necessary to have a workforce management system that would not only optimize staff scheduling, but also enable daily challenges to be addressed more efficiently,” explains Eros Quarantelli, HR Manager at HI-LEX Italy.
With awm, it was possible to digitalize all the information that had previously been written manually or recorded in spreadsheets, from mapping employees’ skills, to assigning them to production lines, to monitoring absences and medical check-ups.
Thanks to the implementation of awm, HI-LEX was able not only to save valuable time that had previously been spent on internal communications between teams—through emails and phone calls across different departments to obtain information on managing unforeseen events such as absences, delays, or illness—but also to significantly simplify planning activities and the monitoring of operations.
